The Role


We are seeking a proactive, diligent, and approachable educational events manager who has a keen interest in delivering the very best beneficiary experience, particularly in the context of construction industry careers.


At EFL, your responsibilities will encompass the planning, coordination, and delivery of our annual programme of training events across multiple contracts and delivery strands, relevant for various Project Director roles, and implemented across all our brands. This training programme includes regular training events delivered nationally for members of the Armed Forces community as well as bespoke events tailored for corporate clients, including those in the construction sector.


You will collaborate closely with our Events Coordinator and Training Manager as part of a small team of development, administrative, educational, and marketing professionals across the company’s brands. The Saddlers’ Company is a not-for-profit City of London Livery Company dedicated to saddlery, equestrianism, and education. The current Hall, established in 1958, spans 10 floors and includes 7 floors of commercially let office space known as Saddlers’ House. The Role


The General Manager and Beadle report to the Clerk/CEO and are responsible for the seamless operation of the Hall, including cooperation with the Property Managers of Saddlers’ House, staff management, security of the Hall and its contents, and the formulation of emergency and lifesaving procedures. Responsibilities also include marketing the Hall for hire to external organizations in partnership with the Catering Partner, ensuring the smooth running of all events that take place there. Serving as the public face of the Company, the General Manager is accountable for all aspects of protocol conducted within the Hall and during civic and ceremonial events involving the Prime Warden and other officials throughout the City.


Personal Profile

Location and Hours

The nature of this role means that remote working opportunities are limited, and the individual must be ‘on call’ to respond to emergencies outside normal hours. It is expected that the candidate will reside within Greater London.


A ‘bunk’ is available to enhance the individual’s duties when a ‘Duty Manager’ is required to be on-site during the delivery, setup, and breakdown of events outside regular working hours.


The office is located at The Saddlers Company, Saddlers’ House, Gutter Lane, London EC2V 6BR.


Remuneration & Benefits


Remuneration for this position will correspond with the seniority of the role and the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. About the Clockmakers’ Company


The Clockmakers’ Company was founded by Royal Charter in 1631 and ranks 61st among the 113 City of London Livery Companies. The Master, Wardens, and Assistants collectively form the Company’s governing body, known as the Court of Assistants (or the Court). The day-to-day management of the Company, guided by the Master and Wardens, is entrusted to the Clerk, who acts as the General Manager. The Clerk also serves as Secretary to the associated charity (the Clockmakers’ Charity, registered number 275380) and reports directly to the Court.


The Company operates from its office located in Painter-Stainers’ Hall in the City.


The Role


The role involves overseeing the administration and operations of the Company, which includes managing over 500 members and administering the Clockmakers’ Charity. The Clerk will address inquiries from both the membership and the public, akin to roles found in the construction industry careers where management is crucial. Location and Hours


The Clerk's position is part-time (4 days per week) and necessitates a flexible approach to working hours. Overtime compensation is not available.


The office is situated at 8 Little Trinity Lane, EC4V 2AN, and there is an expectation for the Clerk to be present in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

The role will require the successful candidate to:


• Offer expert advice to the EGM on the design and implementation of strategic plans necessary for the successful establishment of the RD&T General Directorate, akin to best practices in Design Manager jobs.

There is a requirement to provide three UK Defence Advisers to support the development of the Assessment Center, conduct interviews, and assessments, and act as coaches to facilitate the KSA MoD Transformation Program, which can parallel opportunities in construction industry careers.


The Advisers will support one of three core aspects of the Assessment Center mandate, as outlined below, and applicants should specify which role they would wish to be considered for, similar to applicants seeking Design Manager jobs or Project Director roles.


• Role 1: Assessment Centre strategy, operational processes, supporting technology, analytics, and reporting to develop the operating model and capabilities within the Assessment Center team.
